Guy Oddo and wife Sybil Archer ARRESTED (9-9-2002 about 3pm)

About 7:05pm today, Monday 9th of September 2002, I received a call from Guy Oddo. Guy assists in maintaining this web site ( http://webup.net/net/let-my-children-go/ )
He informed me that he was calling from the Klamath County Jail on a payphone in the facility. This is as he described what happened today:
He and his wife Sybil were in court today apparently about their children. Judge Wogan (spelling?) had just given them a summons to parental rights termination proceedings. A few minutes later while they were still sitting in court, the judge informs them that the District Attorney had come to him with a request to issue an arrest warrant for Guy Oddo and Sybil Archer. Guy said that the charges were kidnaping. 2 counts on Guy for kidnaping Sybil and their last child (still a baby), and 1 count on Sybil for kidnaping their last child (same one). Guy and Sybil were arrested right there in the court room. They are right now, Monday evening, in the Klamath County Jail.
I asked Guy how they could think to charge them with kidnaping when he did not take anyone. Guy estimated that they, the DA?s office, probably believed that when Sybil came back into the area with their child after giving birth in hiding for safety that she and Guy were ?supposed to? immediately give their child to Services to Children and Families.
A little background: Their previous child was taken from them some time back. Guy and Sybil were still trying to get their family together again (even now). Sybil became pregnant again and went into hiding to protect their coming child. The judge declared the unborn and unnamed child custody of the state. The state could not find them for some time. Sybil returned to the area and someone reported to SCF. SCF and law enforcement officers came and took this child from her.
Guy believes that this is probably the basis for their charges. Guy and Sybil are in Jail now.
Many people tell me ?you probably don?t know the whole story?. This is probably true. I cannot judge someone on hearsay, unusualness, or odd characteristics. If there is something suspicious about someone there is reason to be cautious, not a spec of reason to treat them with prejudice or assumptions. I learned through being disrespected by others that I must treat every other person with the respect I wish to receive. It would always be better to learn these things from other people?s experiences and advice than to learn them the hard way.
On the surface it seems odd that they would be charged with kidnaping at all, and even more odd that they would be arrested soon after being summoned to their child?s termination of parental rights proceedings. Its almost as if they are being arrested to prevent them from being able to defend their rights at the proceeding. Perhaps even to prevent them from getting there at all.
I am deeply concerned for them both and their children. At least they are not really in any physical danger there and at this time Services to Children and Families already has had custody of their children for months and longer.
To loose an item is bad. To have an item taken is worse. To have a person taken is very bad. To have your child taken is horror. Often SCF, the Lawyers, and the Judges act unethically and unconstitutionally. I hope the individuals who make up the court do what is right and do it properly. May good be done and may healing come.
